8B series pulleys are manufactured for A, AX, AA, 4L, B, BX, BB, and 5L v-belts, ranging from 5.75″ to 38.35″ in diameter. Depending on the pulley size, they are made to use with SD, SK, SF, or E QD bushings, which we also stock. Most of our 8-groove 8B QD bushed pulleys are manufactured from a high-strength grade 35 cast iron, are phosphate-coated, and are painted for anti-corrosion. All of them are balanced at the factory for smooth machinery operation. The main benefit of using a QD (quick detachable) pulley is that if the bushing (hub) breaks, you don’t have to replace the whole assembly, or if just the pulley gets worn out, the same principle applies. The other significant benefit is that there is a broader range of bore options with QD pulleys than with the “fixed-bore” style.

Standard Mounting of QD Bushing

  • Just ensure the tapered cone areas of the bushing and the inner part of the pulley are dirt free.
  • Now mount QD bushing in pulley or QD product in alignment with clearance holes in product accompanied by threaded holes in the bushing.
  • Place finger-tight lock washers and cap screws passing through the pull-up holes.
  • Ensure that the bushing is fully expanded to ensure its sliding fit on the shaft. Now assemble the slide CZPT the shaft, providing the heads of caps crews are outside.
  • Now place this assembly on the shaft for accurate drive alignment. Tighten the screw-over key with the help of an Allen wrench. Avoid any excessive force.
  • It’s time to tighten up alternate cap screws and progressively to particular torque. A 1/8 to ¼ inch distance between these 2 segments is ideal to ensure the best cone grip and keep it press fit. Don’t allow the pulley to come in contact with the flange of the bushing.

Note: Once you have mounted the QD bushing, do not forget to fill the gap to avoid dirt.

Dismounting Process

  • Remove the screws of the cap and place them into tapped holes in the pulley gradually and against the flange of the QD bushing until the grip of the bushing loosens out.
  • Now loosen the set screw and take out the assembly from the shaft. You’re done with the dismounting process.

Note: The application of lubricants or any type of anti-seize elements or tapered cone surfaces, or even bolt threads, can harm pulleys. Avoid the such situation.
